How Much Does Rubbish Removal Cost in Glasgow?

One of the most common questions we get asked is 'how much will it cost?' The honest answer is that it depends on what you're getting rid of and how much there is. But here's a realistic breakdown based on our 2026 pricing.

Single Item Collection

A single item like a mattress, sofa, or washing machine typically costs between £40-£80 depending on the item and your location. This includes collection from any floor, loading, transport, and proper disposal at a licensed facility.

Quarter Van Load

Around £80-£120. This covers a few items. Maybe a small bedroom clearance or the contents of a shed. Equivalent to roughly 2-3 cubic metres of waste.

Half Van Load

Around £140-£180. A typical bathroom renovation's worth of waste, or a good-sized garage clear-out. About 5-6 cubic metres.

Full Van Load

Around £200-£300. This handles most single-room clearances, a full kitchen rip-out, or a substantial garden clear. Our vans carry approximately 10-12 cubic metres. More than a standard skip.

Full House Clearance

From £400 upwards depending on the property size and contents. A two-bedroom flat typically runs £400-£600. A three-bedroom house with garage and garden can be £600-£1000. We always quote after seeing photos.

What Affects the Price?

Volume is the main factor. Weight matters too. Rubble and soil cost more than furniture because of disposal charges. Access difficulty (flights of stairs, narrow paths, no parking nearby) can add to the labour time. Location within our coverage area is factored in but rarely a deal-breaker.

Why Rubble and Soil Cost More Than Furniture

Because tips charge by weight, not by volume. A van filled with sofas and wardrobes looks like a lot of waste and weighs comparatively little. The same van a third full of broken concrete, tiles or excavated soil can weigh several times more and cost several times as much to dispose of. That's why a small pile of rubble sometimes prices higher than a room of furniture, and it's the single thing that surprises people most about a quote. If you've got both, say so when you send photos, because the mix changes the price more than the total size does.

What's Included

The price covers the labour, the vehicle, and the disposal, and it is the price. We load it, so nothing needs to be at the kerb before we arrive and nothing needs carrying downstairs by you. Disposal at a licensed facility is included rather than added afterwards, and so is the waste transfer note. There's no charge for stairs as a line item, though a third-floor tenement with no lift is factored into the quote at the point we see the photos rather than sprung on you on the day.

How It Compares to a Skip

A skip looks cheaper until you add everything up. You're paying for the skip, and in Glasgow you'll often need a council permit if it sits on the road, and you load it yourself, and it occupies a parking space for a week, and anything the neighbours add overnight is on your bill. Prices You See Advertised Elsewhere

Be careful comparing a headline figure against a quote. A very low advertised price is usually for a minimum load that almost nothing fits into, or it excludes disposal, or it's cash with no transfer note, which leaves you carrying the duty of care if the load never reaches a licensed site. When Does a Quote Change?

Rarely, and only when what's there isn't what was in the photos. The usual causes are volume that turned out to be double what the picture showed, rubble or soil that wasn't mentioned, or items we can't legally take mixed in with the rest. If that happens we tell you the revised price before anything goes in the van, so the decision stays yours. What doesn't change the price is the job being awkward: stairs, a long carry, tight parking and dismantling are priced in when we quote, not discovered afterwards.
