Garden Waste Removal Tips for Autumn in Glasgow

Glasgow's autumn brings wet weather, falling leaves, and the end of the growing season. Getting your garden cleared and prepared for winter now prevents bigger problems come spring.

Leaves

Fallen leaves left on lawns over winter kill the grass underneath. Rake them up or use a leaf blower to gather them. Leaves make excellent compost — bag them in open mesh bags and leave for 12-18 months for free leaf mould.

Dead Plants and Annuals

Pull up spent annual plants and cut back perennials to ground level. Healthy plant material goes in your brown bin or compost heap. Diseased plants should go in general waste to prevent spreading infections.

Branches and Pruning

Autumn is a good time to prune many trees and shrubs. Cut branches into manageable lengths for your brown bin. For larger pruning jobs or tree work, the volume often exceeds what your brown bin can handle — that's where we come in.

Garden Furniture

Clean and store furniture that can survive another season. Broken or rotting furniture should be disposed of — timber goes to wood recycling, metals to scrap, and plastic furniture to general waste.

Fencing and Decking

Check fences and decking for storm damage from the summer. Damaged panels and rotten timber should be replaced before winter storms make things worse. We collect old fencing and decking as part of our garden waste service.

Bulk Garden Clearance

If your autumn garden clear-up generates more waste than your brown bin can handle, send us a photo. We collect garden waste of all kinds — leaves, branches, soil, turf, old sheds, broken furniture — and take it to a licensed composting or recycling facility.
